I don’t see too many personal blogs for Naturopathic Medical School Applicants. I have seen so many applicants ask questions on what to expect during the interview, how to prepare for the interview, and how to become a strong applicant leading to an acceptance for their school of choice. I have decided to make this blog for future applicants, as well as for people who want to learn about Naturopathic Medicine and want to convert into practicing a holistic lifestyle.
Anyways, since working with physicians, pa’s, nurses, and in the clinical trials/hospital atmosphere in general, I’ve started to become quite aware that pursing a career in conventional medicine, alone, is not for me. I feel as though the doctors here are not really getting to the root cause of the disease but only alleviating the symptoms by giving these patients more drugs and less a variety of treatment options. One day, I was casually reading an article in some sort of health magazine and I’ve slipped upon a Naturopathic Physician’s profile. Very interesting! I am really thinking about applying to Naturopathic medical school. There’s nothing wrong with conventional medicine at all. There are instances were drugs and surgery are required. In fact, my older sister is an Osteopathic Physician and she’s great! Naturopathic Medicine actually doesn’t disregard the conventional model of medicine but seek to restore and maintain optimum health in patients by emphasizing nature’s inherent self-healing process in addition. Conventional has it’s place in the medical field just like Naturopathic medicine. I see myself fitting in more the Naturopathic atmosphere. It’s very diverse in treatment and opportunities in what I want in a career as a whole.
